During the July school holidays, TMAG will be hosting a variety of activities to celebrate NAIDOC Week, as well as our regular School Holiday Program.

‘Learn to Draw Class’ with Louis Rodway. Monday 11 July & Tuesday 12 July 10.00-11.30 Recommended ages 9-12.

Formally trained artist Louis Rodway introduces budding artists to the fundamental skills of drawing and observation, with a simple formula enabling artists to draw ships, desert islands, anything!

‘Shipwrecked on a Bass Strait Island’. Wednesday 13 July & Thursday 14 July 10.00- 12.00
Recommended ages 6-12.

Imagine one night you wake to the sound of your ship hitting rocks. It’s dark, it’s cold and you don’t know where you are. How will you get ashore? How will you survive once you get there? Based on real stories of shipwreck on the Bass Strait islands, children will find out how people survived, what they ate, how they lived and how they might get rescued

Mawson’s Huts Replica Museum is a boutique world class museum that: provides visitors with the opportunity to learn and understand the history and achievements of the men of the 1911-14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition led by Douglas Mawson; helps promote awareness of Australia’s involvement in the Antarctic; and highlights Hobart as the gateway to the Antarctic continent for the Asia Pacific region.
